Lori Jorgenson

I was born in Monticello, Iowa, in 1965, and I grew up in Waverly, Iowa, far from the ocean. I was heavily involved in all types of land-based sports at an early age. My passion for paddling evolved later.

I graduated from Wartburg College in 1989 with a BS degree in Leisure Services. I wanted to be involved in the fitness industry.  In 1991, I moved to Portland, Oregon, and attained a master's degree in physical fitness. I have made Portland my home.

In 1998, I became involved in outrigger canoe racing. I fell in love with the sport, and I am determined to make a name for myself. My goal is to receive a medal in the 2004 World Championships.
